Ted Talks Tuesdays: “Andrew McAfee: What will future jobs look like?”
There’s so much going on in our economy. I feel that sometimes we worry too much about the now, and forget about the future. With unemployment levels skyrocketing, even with a college education, it’s hard not to worry about the present. But what will future jobs look like? In this video for Ted Talks Tuesdays, Andrew McAfee, who studies the way information technology (IT) affects businesses and society as a whole, will discuss how droids might take over the jobs we know today, but with the good preparation and nature of our people, we will be okay in the future. Today, total corporate profits seem to be steady and high while labor wages seem to be at an all time low. A lot of this is due to the convenience of new technologies. Corporate might think this is great, but it’s not. In order to sell goods, you have to have a stable society that is willing and able to purchase these goods. With technology evolving rapidly, we as a people need to be aware of this and work at preparing our next generations for what society is going to become.
“Technology is a gift from God. After the gift of life it is perhaps the greatest of God’s gifts. It is the mother of civilizations, of arts and of sciences.”
